FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WEDDING FAQ

Do you use a second shooter on a wedding day?
Nope, it’s all me, here in my one woman show. I’m a slave to my work, a picky perfectionist, and need to ensure that each shot meets the standards of my vision--our vision. I’m confident in my work and my ability to capture all the in-betweens. I do enlist the help of a large cappuccino upon arrival, but that special wedding day buzz ensures that I’m snapping happily, continually bouncing around in your peripherals all day long. I’m more than happy to share a complete wedding day story with you to better showcase what I’m doin’ throughout the whole day of the “I do.”
To troubleshoot the unlikely “what-ifs” of shooting solo, however, I’ve invested in a top-of-the-line camera that instantly records a backup of your images, I’m never without a spare camera body, and my bag is stocked with multiple lenses.

What happens if it's raining?
If you’re getting married on a rainy day do not despair, oh bride and groom. The plus sides: it has the ability to be wonderfully atmospheric and romantic, it’s usually never a steady downpour the entire day AND it’s good luck. Tadaaa! If you do have a tight schedule mapped out for your wedding day, and being more flexible for clear skies isn’t an option, I’d recommend investing in a charming, little umbrella. Clear works best to let in more light.

How is our wedding delivered?
Dear Bride and Groom: your wedding was killer. We’re taking it up a notch. I believe in custom, I believe in longevity, and I looove me some glittery ribbons tied ‘round a sweet, personalized package. I work with a local company in Eagan that delivers up the most precious & professional products. And while I hate to call them media drives, because they’re so much more delicious than it sounds, you can trust that your memories are preserved for both beautiful + long term storage. Ask to see a sample. You’ll see what I mean. And then you’ll want 34 of them for yourself.

Do we get the raw images?
Only fully edited, high resolution images are delivered unto your lovin’ arms. The careful curating and post processing is a big aspect of the finished result; any images that don’t undergo a little individual attention are unfinished representations of what I know we create together. Trust that you’re getting the best of the best.

How long have you been doing this gig for?
My first KH couple just celebrated their 8 year wedding anniversary. (Whoop, whoop, L+D fo-evaaaa.) It was exciting. Nerve racking. Incredibly beautiful. Intimate. At once rewarding and a whole bowl of laughs. So basically, nothin’ has changed in they way I feel about ‘em, except now I’ve got the gear, the experience, and the knowledge that THIS is where I shine.

PORTRAIT FAQ

Do you shoot your portraits in a studio?
Nope! On-location is the name of my game. It’s not that I can’t shoot studio, or that I particularly dislike it. It just doesn’t do anything for me. And I don’t think it says anything about you. Sunshine makes me happy. Wide, wide fields of wildflowers make me happy. &Twirling, dancing, and spinning round in the fresh air makes my clients happy. Sidenote: “Studio KH” because of the whole host of other creative pursuits I have outside of photography. One day I’ll incorporate more; cram a few extra titles into my letterhead. For now: just photographer extraordinaire.

What happens if it’s raining?
For a scheduled portrait session, if it looks like it'll be a steady stream of wet all day with no pockets of dry, we'll take another look at our schedules and see about coordinating a follow up session. I do generally have some flexibility in my schedule which allows me the freedom to shift appointments around if necessary. If both of our schedules are locked in tight, we’ll round up the umbrellas, find some shelter, and work with what our mommas gave us.

How is our portrait session delivered?
All sessions with the exception of weddings are digitally delivered. When finished, you will receive one hot, little email with the link where you will have ability to download the finished collection in high resolution, share your session on social media, or order prints with my professional lab in Eagan. The thing I love most about this delivery platform: your photos are backed up for 10 years. So basically, until the time your newborn is doing high dives and spelling bees, you’re covered here. How good’s that, yo?

How long have you been doing this for?
I started doin’ this gig a decade ago, fresh outta high school. After a successful career of mirror selfies for the Myspace audience, I upped my game and found respectable employment at a highly regarded portrait studio south of St. Paul. My first real job included retouching blemishes and under eye circles for 40 hours a week, 5 summers in a row. Eventually I graduated to lead shooter, specializing in high school seniors, but the editing process has always remained a key component of my work. Ask for some before and after shots if you wanna see what I mean. Photoshop is my boyfriend.
