Emily + Grant’s Fun Urban Daisy Wedding in Minneapolis, MN

Just how fun was E+G’s Urban Daisy wedding?

If it tells you anything, I’ve got 300-some photos in this post to help me explain. (It used to be more, but I learned in the process of making this blog that Squarespace does indeed have a limit and I had to pare down. Whoops! A testament to how much I adore this wedding!)

So how did Emily and Grant pull off such a fun fête, you ask?

First, by focusing in on the experience of their day, for themselves, their families, and their guests. Grant and Emily are basically professional wedding guests, having been in dozens in the last few years. Having a taste of so many big days, they were clear on what they wanted for their own: a wedding day that felt light, festive, and one where they could spend some quality time with their favorite people in chic party setting. Mission accomplished!

My favorite way they put that into practice was their non-traditional approach to their wedding party. They had their siblings stand up with them at the altar, but were still able to honor their close friends. Right before the ceremony, Emily invited a group of her favorite women—her “something blue”—to a special toast. She thanked them for their important roles in her life and explained that by honoring them, she was also honoring the legacy of her beloved grandma. (No dry eye was present during that toast, as evidenced below.) It was a touching tribute and the reason why I love weddings so much—the pure heart and beauty of moments like this.

Other stand-out details for Emily and Grant include featuring a family style meal at each table provided by Brasa Catering, to encourage more community. Hiring a calligrapher for their guests to get beautiful custom ornaments for their families. Planning an extra long cocktail hour to be able to mingle with their loved ones for longer. And by setting the example on the dance floor, showing Minneapolis what a good party really looks like. ;)

Shout out to this incredible vendor team I was honored to work alongside! Part of the reason Emily and Grant’s day flowed so seamlessly, allowing them to soak in and celebrate, was the quality of service you all provided. Extra praise to their planner Morgan who executed it all happily and in heels, and to the wonderful staff at Urban Daisy.
