I wonder when Nils and his family moved into this house years ago if they ever imagined that he’d grow up to marry his dream girl Kayla in the backyard? Because that’s exactly what happened last month.

ALL THE FEELS.
FOR REALS.

There’s just somethin’ about an at-home wedding that magnifies everything—

Understanding that every room and every object my camera touched that day already holds a story, and will now carry this one. Even the little ones, like photographing the boutonnieres atop the texture of the dining room chairs.

Seeing family wedding photos displayed on the wall, knowing that these will soon be joining the ranks.

Imagining future get togethers around kitchen tables and Christmas trees, the memory of this day and its promises so much easier to recall being right there. (Although I doubt you’ll see that great room denuded of all its furniture again like it was on this day, a cheerful scramble to move an outdoor ceremony in at the last minute.)

Not to mention the comfort that comes with being in a space already special and familiar. Kayla and Nils were relaxed and present all day long—I think that’s what we call a dream couple—and the hospitality of their families made it truly a dream wedding.

I felt like I was back here alllll through the editing process.
