Extended Family Session Info
Extended family sessions are designed with the big group in mind. Our primary goal is the shot of everyone together. After we have a few options captured, we’ll transition into our breakout groups. Typically it’s a photo of each nuclear family, grandparents with the grandkids, and the original family. Together, we can come up with a list of priority groupings.

Sessions take place at a location of choice within the Twin Cities metro, within a 30 minute drive from my place in Saint Paul. I’m always happy to provide suggestions, whether we’re going for a scenic or a city vibe! If you have a spot further afield in mind, drop me a note and I’ll send a travel quote. Once we settle on a date and location, your session is locked in on my calendar.
Within a 3 week window following our shoot, a gallery link will be landing in your inbox. Here’s where your high resolution images will live, giving you options to view, download, print, and share. Images in this gallery will be edited to showcase optimal colors and natural skin tones, and as a bonus: you can select 3 faves from this set that you’d like a little extra retouching TLC for. Typically these are the ones that will end up as featured framers in your home. If you’d like retouching for more than 3 images, you have the option to purchase more at $25+ per image. Complex retouching will be quoted on an individual basis.

Ready to set up a session?
Hooray! Once we settle on a date + time, the displayed rate is locked in, as prices are subject to change. For outdoor sessions, I prefer to shoot within the first or last few hours of daylight for the softest glow possible. For families with kiddos under 3 years of age, I’d suggest shooting outdoors in temps of 50 degrees and above (or making sure they’re layered up!), and/or including an indoor option to ensure happier, more comfortable kids.
Are there general days + times of the week that suit you best? Or do you have a specific date in mind? Get in touch so we can coordinate our calendars to start making magic!
Extended Family FAQ
What age ranges do you work with?
I photograph kiddos of all ages, from newborns to high school seniors. My favorite window is 6 months to 6 years!
Can we bring our pets?
Sure, as long as it’s 2 or fewer animals. Please give me a heads up as all locations don’t allow for pets. Depending on how many young children are your extended family, it might not be recommended, as to keep the focus on the family.
What if the child/ren are uncooperative during our shoot?
It’s normal for kiddos to not want to sit still and smile at the camera for every shot. We’ll keep things moving, invent some games, give tickles, and allow them to explore a bit. Having some small treats on hand (like Goldfish or marshmallows) tends to help, or a phone queued up with their favorite song for a dance break.
