Brigitte and Jacob’s intimate winter wedding at The Plummer House in Rochester, Minnesota was filled with cozy elegance, plenty of personal touches, and emotional moments that made the day feel both beautiful and meaningful.

Getting Ready at The Plummer House
One of the best parts about hosting your wedding at The Plummer House in Rochester is the ability to keep everything in one location. The couple got ready onsite, allowing for a relaxed timeline with the opportunity for real candid moments to unfold. There are several bedrooms upstairs to choose from, for both the couple and their VIPs. Kayla Cain did onsite make-up for Brigitte and did an incredible job.
For those couples that choose to get ready elsewhere, The Plummer House is centrally located in Rochester and only about a 10 minute drive from the hotels downtown.
Winter Wedding Portraits at The Plummer House
Even in the colder months, The Plummer House offers incredible portrait locations:
Snow-covered gardens, both Upper and Lower. The mansion sits on 11 acres with outdoor portrait options literally everywhere.
Multiple staircases, including the iconic one in the foyer, and a few stone ones outdoors.
Cozy spaces inside like the library Seriously, this place has so many great nooks and crannies for portraits!
The building facade with it’s classic Tudor styling, so we don’t have to go far into the elements.
The covered stone walkway on the west side of the building, for another option that doesn’t include much walking.
For Brigitte and Jacob, the light coating of snow we had came just in time for their wedding. Late February can be a gamble, but we lucked out!
Pro tip for winter weddings in Rochester, MN! Plan extra time for portraits in case we need a warm-up break and consider bringing:
• Tailored coats or bridal capes
• A cute blanket to wrap up in together
• Warm boots, especially if we can tuck them under a wedding dress. If no one will see them anyone, let’s be comfortable!
Intimate Ceremony at The Plummer House
Brigitte and Jacob chose to host a small, meaningful ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends. Truly surrounded, as several of their vendors were their family and friends, like Brigitte’s hair stylist, their talented pianist, and brother-in-law caterer! Intimate weddings at The Plummer House allow for:
• More quality time to spend with each guest, which becomes especially important if you have out-of-towners in attendance. The bride had a number of family members fly in from Hungary, so time was everything!
• Intimate weddings often translates to a more relaxed timeline.
• The ability to have less decorations but with a higher impact. Shout out to Fox & Fern Floral, doing an incredible job as per usual!
Smaller weddings create some of the most emotional and memorable days. With fewer distractions, couples can focus on what truly matters—their relationship and the people closest to them. One way that this couple fostered that feeling, was turning their cake cutting into a gender reveal surprise for their guests. Their Allison’s Petite Pastries cake had blueberry preserves—it’s a boy for the newlyweds who are expecting their first baby!
The Plummer House allows for a max of 100 guests so any wedding planned here will be able to capture a cozy, intimate feeling. Bonus points if you can include a whole slew of candles like Brigitte and Jacob did! Atmospheric glow is always a win.

• Plan for earlier portrait times due to limited winter daylight. Ceremonies can still be at or after sunset, leaning into the glow and warmth of candles. Remember what I said about bonus points?
• Incorporate warm and cozy guest experiences. Maybe that includes something like a hot chocolate bar? Baskets of blankets to cozy up with?
• Embrace the snow! It makes for beautiful photos. We can take as many breaks as we need to warm up inside!
