The Complete Studio KH Wedding Guide

Section 13:

Golden Hour

Golden hour: that special slice of sunlight usually within the hour before sunset, where the light hits juuuust right.

If the weather is cooperating, and we can swing a 2nd little couple’s sesh with just the two of you, I promise we will come away with some magic. I’m always mindful that you want to mingle with your guests, and will wait for the most appropriate time between events. If you’re willing to allocate 5-15+ minutes, I’ll do the rest!

In case you need a lil more convincing, here’s a small gallery of some golden hour goodness—

Pro tips:

  • If it’s been a hot day, ditch the boutonniere before we head out. It’s usually wilted beyond repair by this point.

  • Feel free to leave flowers + heels behind—let’s loosen things up a little, focusing even more on feelings. This is also our opportunity for posing without worrying so much about messing up hair and make-up. We do a lot more running, spinning, and playing with the two of you. The look and feel is a lot different from our earlier portraits.

  • For an extra dose of dreamy, put your veil back in. The way it glows in the late day sun is just magical.

Wondering what we do if it’s not clear skies for your wedding day?

The same exact thing. 😍 Even if it’s cloudy, it’s still an opportune time to sneak away for some softer, quieter portraits. You don’t get a lot of time together on your wedding day, just the two of you. Besides being some of the best photos of the day, this is also a time to enjoy each other’s presence, taking a breather to reflect on that fact that you just got married.

Blue hour (the time right after sunset) instead for Bre + Robert who didn’t have sunny skies for their wedding. We still got beautiful portraits!
