I’ve kind of loved everything about meeting + connecting + photographing Carrie and Mitch.

For starters, our mutual friend…

It’s always so funny to me when wedding guests strike up conversation during dinner, asking whether I’m friends of the couple or if I’m a hired vendor. Because we may have started out as strangers, but throughout the emails, the engagement shooting, and the pre-wedding meeting, I can’t rightly say that Ben and Britt aren’t my friends. (Anyway, we shook on it at the end of the night. It’s for real, for real now.)

Lemme tell ya, guys: there’s just no wrong way to have a wedding. (As if Lindsay + Michael’s day coulda been anything but wholly wonderful.)

If you’re not already crying from a sweetness overload 30 minutes into your arrival on a wedding day, what’re you doin, pals.
And if you’re not covered in sweat and champagne by the end of it, did a wedding even really happen.

“What made this one so good?” he asked, as I told Eric how excited I was last week to edit/share/everything that was Brittany + Seth’s wedding day.
My response—

To me, asking people what they do for work has always seemed so flimsy. (Hello, fellow INTJs!) Especially when there are more important things to get to the bottom of, like if you could go anywhere in the world where would you go? (Side note: real excited to see honeymoon snaps from St. Lucia from these two.) Ordinarily I wouldn’t ask or retell that kind of thing…

Nate is the kind of guy that makes you imagine his former schoolteachers referring to him as a “good kid” who was probably either voted most likely to succeed or most charismatic.
Meanwhile, Annie is the kind of person that was probably always wearing 16 different friendship bracelets on her wrist at any given time, so full of joy and undiscriminating warmth. Also, probably the Homecoming Queen that everyone actually liked.

“No one is going to believe that this is a real wedding,” I told her as she stood in front of the mirror, minutes before the ceremony. She laughed in response, make-up brush in hand. (Look for it in the scrolling below; it was ridiculously adorable.)

I’ve never felt so nervous to hit publish on a blog.
Not because I’m worried about the quality of the work, but rather the opposite, in a strange twist of feeling.
I connected to this wedding so well, that it also feels as if a piece of me is on display.

A wedding is never “just a wedding” to me.
Not during nor after.

It was the perfect August day in Duluth.
Reeeeally.
As a personal amusement, I decided as I arrived at the lake that morning that I was going to keep count of how many times I overheard anyone express the same sentiment.
And what I got was three.
THREE!
(And I'll admit, the last one was someone agreeing with me as I tried to coax them into marveling.)

It seemed pretty obvious to me that the Haley/Tschann shindig would go off without a hitch.
