I’d just like to state for the record that before 2020 necessitated the shifting of wedding plans, I’ve always been a firm believer in the power of a backyard wedding. Shelby + Kyle’s wedding on one perrrrfectly glorious October Saturday only furthers that feeling.

I wonder when Nils and his family moved into this house years ago if they ever imagined that he’d grow up to marry his dream girl Kayla in the backyard? Because that’s exactly what happened last month.

A few months back, I started a gratitude journal. It’s a straightforward premise where you reflect on all that you’re thankful for, jotting it down on the daily to cultivate contentment in your life. It’s the mindset I brought to Jalissa and Zach’s wedding, and the one I’m about to carry over into the blog.

I AM THANKFUL FOR:

The last wedding of my shooting season always feels BIG. Moments feel extra weighty and I tend to wax poetic, getting it ready to deliver. And with Megan + Mike, those typical year-end feels ring true.

Ever wonder what my dream wedding would look like?
Like, if I’m the one playing bride instead of photog, dream wedding. That one.
I can tell you it would follow Ethan and Taylor’s intimate Bachelor Farmer wedding preeeetty darn closely.

For starters…

You never really know what to expect when a couple tells you prior to the wedding day that their crew is the best kind of crazy. With Nikki + Chase, I’d say that’s never been more accurate. Although the best part: the pendulum also swings in another direction.
